I am trying to analyze the drag coefficient of flow over an inclined (60 deg) flat plate.
At this stage I am only looking at a 2D case I have looked at various meshing approaches but none seem to give good convergence. I am considering a head on free stream velocity of 15m/s. First layer boundary over plate in the order of 0.25mm. I have performed structured mesh (taking lead from airfoil examples) as well as unstructured mesh with inflation layers on the surface. An example of the structured mesh approach is in the link. https://ibb.co/30SZJ83 Any recommendation on general approach for this typical problem statement? I am fairly new to CFD. |

The mesh resolution needs to be observed in terms of . With a baseline mesh that you have generated, run one simulation and then plot the contours of Wall yplus available under Turbulence category on the wall representing the plate. You have to ensure that this value is less than 5 everywhere on the plate. If it is not, refine the mesh accordingly, using a linear multiple, i.e., if you observe that Wall yplus is 50 with 0.25 mm first cell size then you need to use 0.025 mm so that yplus becomes 5.
