Dear CFD Experts,

I am working on cfd analysis of data center, in that model we have a raised floor where my CRAC supply openings and perforated tiles connect the raised floor with data center room.

We prepared the model in spaceclaim 2020 R1 and before import to fluent meshing we did interference option and share topology option in Sapceclaim. Once the share topology operation is performed then we defined boundary name. See attached snapshot

In Fluent meshing 2020R, we are using the watertight meshing workflow, the geometry is available in below we transfer link (https://we.tl/t-PIsZICxOR7). The link contains two files.a) final geometry model with share topology and assigned name selections.b) the model without share topology.

During the meshing, we defined the below sizes based on the geometry specification

Face sizing for different faces (20mm, 50mm, and 100 mm)

Surface mesh (minimum 20 mm and maximum 500 mm for the entire domain).

Consider three inflation layers

For volume polyhexcore mesh size is considered as 640 mm.

Problem: Surface mesh is finishing in 30-40 minutes, whereas assigning boundary types is taking atleast 2-3 hrs and volume mesh is taking 4 hrs. Can you please let us know what is the reason for such long time.

For perfoming the mesh, we are using 4 cores because as per the ANSYS base license we have only 4 cores.

System specification: 132 GB Ram, 32 logical processors

Any recommendations and suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Regards

Wali

What is the volume (m3) of your domain?

The volume is around 1055 m2 x 3.5 m = 3692 m3

you may try to divide domain into several parts and make mesh separately, later assemble in Fluent
