Dear Community
I need help with my Project.
Although I tried to setup my cases with OpenFoam and also with fluent but I didn't get correct results.
The Objective of my project is to Characterize on-source fire whirls on the basis of TCI and TRI.
So, I m simulating 3 cases (using LES turbulence model)with rectangular domain (.350*.350*1.45 meter ) as experimental results are available for this geometry, methanol (liquid fuel , rectangular pan of .062*.062*.045 placed at centre of base). So my three cases are the following-
1st case- All sides are at wall condition (No slip), base at same condition and top/outlet at atmospheric/ambient conditions.Fuel flows from plan inlet with velocity0.0216m/s.
2nd case - we introduce a slit (with Ambient/Atmospheric condition)on one wall at corner having dimensions .036 m and due to this mixing of fuel with oxidizer /air gets enhanced and flame height, temp will increase and also swirl will produce.I run the case with firefoam by modifying smallpoolfire3D case but gri mech 3.0 reaction with 53 species(detailed chemistry) is used in one research paper and validated against experimental).I am confused how they used it because Gri 3.0 reaction websites says that it will produce incorrect results for parental fuel other than natural gas(methanol, ethylene etc). What I got is temperature increased due to introduction of slit, swirl also got produced but flame height decreased (opposite to expected result) and also centerline temp profile does not look Good.
3rd case- I introduce two slits as entrainment condition at corner of alternate walls of same dimensions and due to which combustion will further intensify and lead to further increase in swirl, flame height, temperature again I got increased temp and good swirl but not flame height and temp profile by using firefoam solver.

Now, when I run the case with reacting foam by modifying SANDIA_LDS tutorial to take detailed chem(gri.mech 3.0 reaction with36 species) I don't even get good flame , I think i done some mistake in patching the ignition area.
Currently I'm trying to solve the case using fluent but also from fluent I am not getting flame when using species transport or non pri-mixed combustion model with gri-mech 3.0 reaction files. But when I use single step reaction I am getting flame but not significant results.Beacuse the fluid is liquid , I think DPM model should be used but I don't know how to use that model exactly with my case because I don't have a lot experience with combustion.
I am stuck with this from a while and wanna get this done very seriously.

thank you so much, hope to get this done soon.
Regards
