I don't fully understand the restriction for moving wall condition. Fluent help for moving wall has the following:



Note that you cannot use the moving wall condition to model problems where the wall motion with respect to the adjacent cell zone has a component that is normal to the wall itself. For such problems, consider using a Sliding or Dynamic Mesh approach as discussed in Modeling Flows Using Sliding and Dynamic Meshes. ANSYS Fluent will neglect any normal component of wall motion that you specify using the methods below.

Can I use moving wall condition to simulate a transnational piston (rigid walls) moving sinusoidally in z-direction? The piston is simply enclosed in fluid with no-slips cylinder walls. Please refer to the picture.
