Dynamic Mesh - Layering

5 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I have a query relating to the implementation of a dynamic mesh on a sloped wall.

Background:

I am simulating the extrusion of two stacked glasses through a die. The vertical wall entitled "piston" is moved using a profile to simulate the glass being pushed through the die (Attachment 83133Attachment 83134). I use the layering method within the dynamic mesh and specify a cell height equal to the width of each cell. Since the geometry is fairly simple, the mesh and each individual cells width is uniform within the section I want to move. I have managed to successfully run this geometry and I am happy with the results

Next, I would like to model a similar geometry, however instead a vertical "piston" wall, this time the wall is tapered (Attachment 83135Attachment 83136Attachment 83137) to see how this impacts the glass being extruded. However, with a tapered wall the mesh cells become skewed as you move down the geometry. This means the cell height of each adjacent cell is not equal and so when the cells are merged they aren't merged equally.

Does anyone have any suggestion for a solution to this?

I am quite new to Fluent, so please excuse any poor terminology. If there is any information I have missed which would help in solving my problem please ask.

Thanks :)
