Hello everyone!
I am working on particle deposition in a 2D simple pipe. the particle deposition velocity is overestimated when the normal fluctuations are not corrected. I tried first to investigate deposition in the 2D pipe without correcting the normal fluctuations. However, I get bad results!! I run first the flow field without activating the DPM, the BC were included by a UDF Define-profile for velocity, K, and epsilon. The RSM turbulence model along with EWT were used. I get acceptable values for dimensionless mean velocity and turbulent kinetic energy compared with DNS data. After convergence, I turned off the flow equations and I used the DPM with the DRW (0.3 for the time scale) models to track my particles. I injected around 30000 (29970) particles at the x=0.2 and I considered Brownian, buoyancy, drag, gravity, and lift forces. The particles are considered as trapped when they touched the wall, thus the defaults "Trap" Bc is used. the stop time was 4.05second and my friction velocity is 0.35. my particle deposition is computed by : Vd=( Ntrapped*h)/(Nin*t)=( Ntrapped*0.02)/(Nin*4.05) The table below resume the obtained deposition velocities: ![]() as you can see for dp<4µm no particles get trapped and for dp>4 I get different results compared to literature. I checked my inlet data many times but unfortunately, I can't find where is the problem exactly! have you please any idea what could be the origin of this problem? Any suggestions? I would be very grateful! Thank you in advance! Regards. Last edited by zahrae; January 6, 2022 at 07:44. |
