Ansys Fluent Meshing Prism Split

Hello,

I am using the Ansys Fluent Mesher to create a 3D mesh including prism layers. For accelerated mesh creation I want to initially create 5 prism layers and then split them (5 Divisions per Layer --> 25 prism layers in total).

My workflow currently looks like this:

Import Geometry, Mesh -> Prisms -> select my Boundary Zone and the boundary zone group and the appropriate offset and growth method -> Growth Options -> Keep First Layer Offsets,Gap Factor 1, Split Options: Split yes, Divisions Per Layer 5, Apply everything and close the prisms window -> Mesh, Automesh, "Mesh-Button" --> Error Notification: "Some zones in the active domain are associated with objects. Select a mesh object for volume meshing instead".

If I instead carry out my workflow as I usually do (without splitting prism layers), I just follow the hierarchic structure until and end with "generate the volume mesh" and then after this apply the above mentioned settings.
Then this error warning appears: "Mesh object "xyz" has cell zones associated. Delete the cell zone(s) and try again.

So I understand this error appears because a volume mesh was already created? As a result I delete the volume mesh and try the Auto Mesh Process again. This time I get no error warning but the Question: "Post split will be skipped for prism meshing with distributed mesh. Proceed to Auto mesh?".

Does anyone have experience with this meshing method and give me a hint what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

I would suggest you use watertight workflow to generate your mesh. It is much more stable.

Now i have never tried splitting the prism layers in fluent but I would suggest that first, use watertight workflow to create a mesh and perhaps then generate the prism layer splitting? But first simply try using the watertight workflow to generate 25 layers, it shouldn't take long as volume meshing is usually parallel.
