Error: No graphics functions are available. Error Object: ()

Hi,

I am having problems running my transient simulation of a bluff body with fluent in batch mode. An error message stated below comes up.

Error: No graphics functions are available.
Error Object: ()

My journal file script reads like this;

; Read case and data files

file read-case-data Rc_transient.cas

solve/set/time-step 2.0e-4

solve/dual-time-iterate 100 20

Exit

I think Fluent is trying to output graphics to the screen (probably the residual plot or monitor plots), but no graphics processor is available. Make sure you are running fluent without a gui (-nogui mode) or manually remove all graphics in your setup.

Hi,
thanks for replying.
when I run it in HPC this error occured.Otherwise in my computer it runs and draw the residual graph.But I cannot continue running it with that.it may takes several weeks.
Doyou think it is a problemm of parallel solving or some thing like this?
If yes why it doesnt happen to other colleagues!

Did you run in -nogui? i.e. 3ddp -nogui

Then try <2ddp -nogui>

you must enter -nogui or else Fluent will think there is a GUI available and will try to output graphics. By entering -nogui, Fluent skips all graphics outputs even if you have them setup, like plots for monitors, etc.

did it work? I'm having the same issue and using -nogui did not solve it.

you should include graphics when launching Fluent by adding '-gu' instead of '-g'. This solved my problem.

Hi, I found same problem using HPC while it did not appears in my own computer.
the slurm is as followed

export FLUENT_GUI=off
/lustre/home/acct-ccelm/ccelm/wqw/linxi-fluent17.2/ansys172/ansys_inc/v172/fluent/bin/fluent 3ddp -t200 -g -i a135.jou -r17.2.0 -pib

I use GUI off, but in error file

Error: No graphics functions are available.
Error Object: ()

Error: Case is not valid.
Error Object: #f
slurmstepd: error: *** JOB 320220 ON cas025 CANCELLED AT 2020-02-06T12:33:17 ***

This is also possible due to problems, such as, you have any commands given to setup an animation, or plot is enabled for any of the monitors. Check that only print or write is enabled for monitors and not plot.
