Duct optimization using Ansys Fluent

3 Attachment(s)
Hello,

I am trying to simulate multiple ducts through a solid using Ansys Fluent 2021 R2.

My goal is, to optimize the existing ducts, using the adjoint solver to minimize the pressure drop.
In theory, I would like to give the Solver a very basic duct geometry and let the program morph it into its optimal shape.

But I can't seem to find the optimal method of doing that,
I tried using the gradient-based solver, but the results were not satisfying, and after around 40 iterations I kept getting an error message that the mesh was not found.

I attached a series of screenshots showing the error messages I receive, maybe someone can help with the problem.
This error does not occur when I morph the geometry using the manual method.

My question is if the adjoint solver can be used to morph a basic geometry into its optimal shape and by which method I can achieve the biggest changes in the geometry.

Additionally, I would like to know if it is necessary to remesh the geometry after a few adjoint iterations, to keep the desired mesh quality.

I am thankful for every help.
Thank you in advance. :D
