In spaceclaim, share topology option
 

I am simulating a three-dimensional structure.

Inside a cuboid, there is a sphere.

To better consider the surroundings and wake of the sphere, I am using the enclosure feature to wrap the sphere.

After doing so, two solids are created in SpaceClaim.

Should I merge these two solids or share them?

I've tried both, but there doesn't seem to be much difference in meshing.

I have created additional regions around the sphere, as shown in the video.

If you are only analyzing the flow around the sphere you do not need to maintain the solid geometry in meshing. You can suppress the sphere for physics, as the void left in the enclosure captures the external geometry. In the example provided, they use the enclosure tool to create the fluid domain and then suppress the solid bodies of the car before going to meshing.

If you do want the solid body for thermal analysis then you should use share topology. This will create a coupled wall between the solid and the fluid domains and a conformal mesh between the two.
