Fluent Simulation Shutdown Issue with Peng-Robinson Equation of State for CO2 Density

1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone,

I am currently working on modeling CO2 dispersion using ANSYS Fluent, but I am encountering a persistent issue that I hope to get some insight into. Each time I set up my simulation with the Peng-Robinson equation of state for the density of CO2, ANSYS Fluent unexpectedly shuts down without any error messages as soon as I start the simulation.

Here are the specifics of my setup:
  • I am attempting to simulate CO2 gas release.
  • The density property of CO2 is defined using the Peng-Robinson real-gas model.
  • As soon as I initiate the simulation run, Fluent closes immediately.
  • I have tried checking the mesh quality, adjusting the UDFs, and even simplifying the model to ensure it's not a resource issue. The problem seems to be triggered specifically by the choice of the Peng-Robinson, Real Gas - Soave-Redlich-Kwong, Real Gas - Redlich-Kwong density model.

To give a clearer picture, I've attached an image that shows part of my setup configuration.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or can provide any recommendations on how to troubleshoot this problem? Are there any known compatibility issues with the Peng-Robinson model in certain conditions, or could this be related to a bug in the software?

Any advice on alternative models or settings that might be more stable for CO2 dispersion would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,
