JJOON is on a distinguished road
Hello everyone,

I am trying to set up a transient Joule heating simulation in Ansys Fluent 2024 R1, but I am facing a persistent issue where I cannot apply the voltage boundary condition. I would be very grateful for any help or insight.

I want to simulate Joule heating in a solid conductive part. I am trying to use the MHD Add-on Module with the Electrical Potential method.

After setting everything up, when I go to Boundary Conditions -> Edit... for the wall where I want to apply voltage, the MHD (or Potential) tab is grayed out (disabled), so I cannot input a voltage value or hook my UDF.

Ansys Version: 2024 R1

Error Messages Encountered:
During this process, especially when reading the mesh in mhd boundary condition tab, I repeatedly see the following internal error in the console:

Error: cx-set-real-entry: wta[2](float)
Error Object: ((constant . 0) (profile "" ""))

Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken:

I have tried to solve this for many days by following a systematic approach, but the issue persists even with a minimal test case (a single conductive block). My troubleshooting steps include:

Clean Reinstallation: I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled Ansys 2024 R1 and my graphics drivers.

Clean Session: I am running Fluent as an administrator from the Developer Command Prompt and starting a fresh session by reading only the mesh file (.msh), not a potentially corrupt case file.

Model Setup:

Energy model is ON.

The MHD add-on module is successfully loaded, and Electrical Potential is selected.

Material Properties: The material for the solid has a valid, non-zero Electrical Conductivity.

Cell Zone Configuration: I have confirmed in Models -> MHD Model -> Boundary Condition tab that the correct solid Cell Zone is assigned the conductive material.

UDFs: The problem occurs even when no UDFs are loaded.

Even after all these steps, the MHD/Potential tab remains disabled in the boundary condition panel.

I would really appreciate your helps. Thank you
