Hello everyone,
I’m currently simulating a 20-L spherical dust explosion chamber and I’m facing an issue with turbulence prediction. In all published work and experimental references, the flow inside the 20-L chamber should show a strongly turbulent, non-homogeneous region, especially near the ignition zone and around the dispersion nozzle. However, in my simulations, the turbulence field always appears almost completely homogeneous, regardless of what I change. Model and setup k-ε model (standard and realizable both tested) Mesh refined near the nozzle Checked boundary conditions (no-slip walls) Domain is exactly a 20-L sphere with the same nozzle geometry used in published studies The issue: TKE values are high, but the spatial distribution is unrealistically uniform no matter what I change. Question: What could cause this artificially uniform turbulence? Are there known pitfalls when modeling turbulence in small explosion chambers? Thanks |
