Dear CFDians,

Need a Tgrid-2-Nastran, or Tgrid-2-Patran grid translator to allow exportation of grid generated by TGRID into PATRAN's neutral or MSC's NASTRAN format.

If you have such an interface please let me know.

Best regards

Why not read the grid into fluent and export in patran or nastran format?

Chris,

Thank for your input. The problem that we are interested in is to covert the volume mesh generated by Tgrid into other CAD format that can be used by others CFD package e.g. CFX, STAR-CD, CFD-ACE. Our experice has shown that the grid exported by Tgrid has only the volume mesh. Boundary surface elements needed for boundary conditions specification are missing in Tgrid output, and thus there is no way for us to apply b.c.

Hope my explaination give you a better picture.

Regards

Chris,

You are absolutly RIGHT.... Readin the mesh into Fluent5 and Export it out in Fluent5 with PATRAN or NASTRAN will do the trick for me.

Once again THANK YOU>

Hi, we had no problems with exporting a volume mesh from tgrid to patran in neutral format. Shell elements (boundary faces) and groups were imported or recreated correctly by Patran. Maybe the reason was that the msh-information that was red in came from a fluent case-file?

Volker,

Thanks for your input. I tried it and it works with the Patran software. The mesh exported from Fluent can be read into Hypermesh (using patran neutral file template) but not Patran softwae.... wierd right!!!! But if the grid is exported from Tgrid, then Patran is fine.

Now the next problem..... CFX's Build (basically a Patran, the pre-processing licensed to CFX for mesh generation) failed to read in the mesh file exported from Tgrid.... have any one encountered that?

Regards
