Has anyone had any success with the Erosion/Accretion Calculator? I am trying to use it to assess sand erosion of a bend, but I'm not sure what all the parameters mean and if the default values are ok.

The erosion model provided in fluent is fairly limited in that it is left to the user to determine what coefficients etc are appropriate. It will not give you any meaningful estimate of actual mass loss. I have been working on erosion modelling with fluent for a while now (PhD project), and will be happy to send you a copy of our paper. Could you please email me a postal address and I'll send it to you.

You might find it more useful to write your own UDF for erosion modelling--ample provision is made for this in the discrete phase model UDFs (i.e. there is one specifically for erosion). There are several empirical models available in the literature, although you have to be aware that none can be taken to be universal.

Several people have worked on erosion modelling of pipe bends--a quick literature search should reveal these. If you would like some specific references, I will be happy to provide you with these.

Hi i also am working in te same area, i would like if you could give me some help with the values of the coefficients "impact angle function", "diameter function" and "velocity exponent function". I´m working with a bend made of carbon steel. Tahnk you very much
