UNSTEDY FLOW OVER A CIRCULAR CYLINDER

Hi,I am stuck with a pretty easy problem!.I can't solve viscous flow over a circular cylinder..I'm not getting the Karman vortices, and vortex shedding....also the solution in the turbulence regime is not at all correct....any suggestions?????? Thanks to all who answers, Sanjib.

(1). If you don't know how to solve the problem, then you need to take a CFD course first and find out whether it is possible to solve the problem or not. (2). If the turbulence model is not giving you the correct answer, you need to do some research in turbulence modeling and find out whether you need to improve the model or not. (3). If you are using a commercial code, then you should get a sample case from the vendor first before you attempt to solve your problem. Ask the support engineer to show you how to solve your problem, otherwise, try some other codes or write your own.

Does your solution converge? What are your boundary conditions? Which turbulence model did you choose?

Hi Chetan,

yes,the solution converged.the boundary conditions were, velocity inlet, pressure outlet, symmetry, and wall at the cylinder surface.the turbulence model is k-e. did you get the results?please inform if you did so.

Sanjib.
