What do you mean by copying the inlet surface to another surface? Do you want to copy the boundary condition or do you want to copy the mesh?

Hello Xiao Hu:

Thank you very much for your reply. The problem is: I use a periodic boundary condition to simulate a periodic flow (inlet and outlet is periodic). I save the periodic inlet+outlet profile in a profile file. In another case, I just need the inlet boundary condition for another flow field simulation. How can I separate the saved inlet+outlet profile into a inlet profile and a outlet profile? Thank you very much for your help.

Since you are using periodic boundary conditions, the solution at your inlet and outlet are exactly the same. So, I don't think that it will make any difference if you use the profile the way it is. I do not really see the need to separate them.

Anyway, for your information, you can still separate them. Actually, the right term should be 'slit'. After finish your calculation for the periodic case, use the following command to slit the periodic face zone. Then you can write profiles for your individual inlet and outlet.

/define/boundary-conditions/modify-zones>slit-periodic
