Volume grid growth

Apart from insuring a point in the laminar sublayer. How far(inches) should a volume grid be grown from the surface, using the spacing normal to a solid surface required to yield 1 grid point in the laminar sublayer?

Re: Volume grid growth

The volume grid should be grown according to the Reynolds number of your problem. To compute the BL thickness or y+, estimate this from correlations in any Fluid Mechanics textbook.

The typical spacing recommendations to reduce diffusion errors is a 20-30% growth rate, i.e., normal length of cell from wall should not increase by more than 30% from the preceding cell. Put about 10 cells in the BL.
