although in Gambit we can use Parametric Modeling to creat simple volume or face and form volume from faces, the following ellipsoid do make me embarrassed:

(x/6)^2+(y/25)^2+(z/15)^2=1

if you know how to creat it in Gambit plz tell us.

thanx, David

Im not entirely sure i can visualise the shape that describes without checking my rusty maths, does it have an axis of revolution? if so create an ellipse and revolve it in gambit, or perhaps create a sphere then use the grid scale function in Fluent to stretch the sphere into the geometry you require.

Thank u Phil

but this entity has three different length axes, so to revolve a half ellipse will not get the proper result.

as above, to scale will not give us the exact volume. So what i need is a precisely built ellipsoid as the equation described.

Is it imperative the volume is exact, could scaling a sphere not give a volume and geometry close to what you want to analyse? Have you tried creating the volume in a CAD package and importing? sorry its not much help

maybe the closest way is creat smooth faces from wireframes, though not satisfying. BTW, such geometry can not be found in Gambit UG or TG.

i've tried SolidEdge v11 and AutoCAD, ...failed,
