hi cfd friends,
I have rectangular channel in that wire mesh(Mesh contains uniform diameter holes) is placed perpendicualr to the direction of flow. can this condition be simulated in fluent 5.5? Thanks in advance. bye |

You could use a porous medium to simulate the momentum sink that occurs across the mesh, but it won't capture any velocity perturbations that might occur in the flow field perpendicular to the primart flow direction.

hi Evan,
Thank you for reply. i am interested in the K.E.Dessipation behind mesh. Hence will it give resonable value of E. waiting of reply. |

The porous medium (or porous jump) models will not give you the right turbulence effects. If you want to have it right, you would have to write some sort of UDF.
