duplicate nodes in mesh

Hi all, Is there a way generate a mesh which has duplicate nodes on some boundary. e.g. perpendicular flow past a flat plate. The thickness of the plate is neglected, so to capture the discontinuity in the velocity and pressure we have to have two nodes at the same point on the plate. one will be facing the upstream and other will be facing the downstream. Can gambit generate such meshes? Sunil.

Re: duplicate nodes in mesh

Yes, Gambit can.

1) Generate Volume : your computational domain

2) Generate Face : your flat plate

3) 'SPLIT' Volume by the Face

4) Set the face as wall

Re: duplicate nodes in mesh

I tried it. I could not find out how to specify the face as wall. Can you tell me that? Also, is it possible to do the same in 2D? Have duplicate nodes along an edge? Lastly, instead of volume geometry I have a surface mesh of the volume and instead of the plate geometry I have a surface mesh of the plate, is there a way to generate a similar volume mesh (i.e. duplicate nodes?) from these surface meshes?

Re: duplicate nodes in mesh

1. How to specify the face as wall ? : OPERATION --> ZONES --> SPECIFY BOUNDARY TYPE

2. Is it possible to do the same in 2D ? : YES. SPLIT FACE WITH FACE

Sincerely, Jinwook
