Has anybody run models of over 2GB on a NT machine?

I have been told that because of the 32-bit addressing space, Fluent cannot handle problems of over 2^(31) = about 2 GB when running on a Windows NT system.

Would Windows XP solve that problem?

According my experience with FLUENT on Windows NT platform, I can say: If you are looking for higher memory you should go for LINUX ...Good Luck

Windows XP cannot solve this kind of problem like Windows NT. In my experience, WindowsNT and XP were not good for big calculations. It was very unstable. I recommend Linux, too .

But if you have SMP machine with 4GB memories, FLUENT cluster parallel can use all 4GB memories.

Try "fluent 3d -pnet". Of course you need the licenses.

As far as I know the actual LINUX-Distributions have the same limitations as NT, since they are 32-bit systems too. There shall be a 64-bit version in connection with the new IP64 Intel Chip. But I do not know whether fluent already offers a 64-bit Linux-Version.

Hence at the moment the only remedy is to use an UNIX-System which is unfortunately very expensive OR to work only in parallel mode with enough CPUs AND lincenses in order to avoid exceeding the 2 GB limit (with all the difficulties and bugs of the parallel version).
