Flow analysis of vane pump

Hai,

I want to carryout flow analysis of two chamber hydraulic vane pump.

Which option is better & viable using FLUENT,

1)Using reference frame

2)Moving mesh

Already If someone has carried out the analysis of vane pump, please give suggestions/guidelines.

With Thanks & Regards, Loganathan.E

Re: Flow analysis of vane pump

You have to use moving mesh.

Look at

http://www.beilke-cfd.de/rotary.mpg

and

http://www.beilke-cfd.de/handout98.pdf

The problems which are described there concerning the gap should be easily to solve now.

But I dont see any way to carry out the calculation using fluent.

Re: Flow analysis of vane pump

Hi

vane pump analysis need deforming mesh capabilities in order to take into account thr rotation of the hub and the translation of the vane.

I have this kind of simulation using CFX TASCFLOW but I don't know if the deforming mesh capabilities of FLUENT can handle this of deformation.

If you need more detail on the methods we used in TASCFLOW just let me know

Best regards

Alain

Hai,

Thanks to Joern and alain.

Can you send the details of the methods used in Tascflow?

Meanwhile, I will discuss with our support people in India.

Re: Flow analysis of vane pump

The whole methods itself can be a quite long to explain here.

Tell me that kind of information you need.

Concerning deformaing mesh methods and positive displacement pump simulation with tascflow, there is an article in cfdreview :
