single face with 2 bcs????

Hi all My geometry has a pipe opening into a container, the tip of the pipe being "velocity-inlet", but when I export this file to fluent, another default entity is created which is a "wall" and this includes the face specified as velocity-inlet.Can anybody advise me on this???Thanks. Shankar.

Hi Shankar,

Most probably the velocity inlet might be having two fluid zones on each of its side.If this is the case, then Fluent creates a wall shadow.

If you don't specify user name to the boundary fluent will create the boundary by default as wall. If it is inside the domain then this wall will have shadow wall. Check whether you haven't apply boundary condition to some wall???

Yes, the velocity inlet has 2 fluid zones on its either side. And what's a shadow wall, will this affect the calculations?I am not able to specify this unwanted wall as "interior". Shankar.

If both side continuum is same material (fluid or solid) then you can convert this wall into interior. Otherwise there can be problem....

Yes both are "Fluid" zones but Fluent says that particular face cannot be "interior" . :(

you have to name this as interior in gambit.
