help: which VOF model

hi there
i am doing stirred tank simulations and need to take the liquid surface into account. i don't require sophisticated surface tracking, just something which is robust and will work on a (coarse) grid with sliding mesh. any experience or recommendations would be very welcome. thanx |

this should be no problem. My experience is that sliding mesh + vof takes very very very long to converge to a physical meaningful solution. Solution: run a moving reference frame model in steady state, and, if necessary, switch tot sliding mesh after convergence.

hi,
In my experience, VOF isn't very robust and won't works on a too coarse grid (results may be completly unphysical). If you need to take into account that there is a free surface but it's deformation is small enought to don't interfere with flow field near the agitator you can use a free slip wall. Best regards |
