premixed turbulent combustion

Does anyone have any experince of using the premixed turbulent combustion model in Fluent 5? I am trying to model the combustion of methane and air, however, the mixture burns as soon as it enters the domain. To slow down the progress variable (c) I have been reducing the critical rate of strain to increase the effect of flame stretch. This method has the desired effect, however, the solution becomes unstable and fails. Any advise!!!!!

Re: premixed turbulent combustion

I think that modeling of premixed turbulent combustion is still challenging. So, I still use Eddy-Break-Up model for several cases, sometimes by calibrating model constants.

I totally agree with you. I have been using the finte rate / eddy dissipation model with some degree of success, however, I wanted to try a different approach to see what would happen.
