Axial and z-velocity

Can anyone tell me the difference between Axial velocity and z-velocity??? I modelling flow over a cylinder and the contours of these are very different! Thanks

Re: Axial and z-velocity

Axial velocity usually have something to do with rotational movement, and z-velocity with translational movement. Check out Fluent User's Guide Vol1 for more info

Re: Axial and z-velocity

Axial velocity is directed from the center of the geometry and going any directions towards the peripheri but in case of z-velocity it directs only one direction normal to the plane.
