Face handedness

Hi, does anyone know how to correct a "face-handedness" grid error? This jumps out at me when I do a grid check on my latest grid (took me hours to make it, darn!), and I cannot imagine having remesh the whole thing again! :P

Re: Face handedness

Hi Chris,

try /grid/modify-zones/repair-face-handedness,

s.t. it helps.

If your case is 2D and axissymmetric, the error can occur due to cells lying below the x-axis.

If possible, translating in the right direction helps.

Re: Face handedness

I tried your advice, and though it corrected the face-handedness, it generated a non-positive volume :(

I'm doing a 3-D model, by the way.

Maybe I'll try to remesh the thing, and see how things go...but if you have any more advice, please help! :)

Thanks Volker.

Re: Face handedness

Non-positive volumes after the handedness-repair process often indicate very bad cells. What is your highest skewness?

Sometimes the face-handedness problems occurs when you work with hybrid meshes in cases were the pyramids grow into the wrong direction or at sharp geometry angles with a too low grid resolution.

Try to check where the bad cells with the negative volume are located and remesh this part if possible.

Let me hear what the reason was.
