halving model
Hi,
If you split your model in half, to reduce computations, do you also have to reduce the variables, such as velocity or pressure by half? Thanks, John. |
Re: halving model
I think it is imposible! If you do that, you will lost much important data what you set first, the numeration is inauthenticity.

Re: halving model
I guess you mean, that you want to use a symmetry condition (half of the modell bordered by a symmetry plane ). You should use symmetry wherever possible, but check your case carefully, if it is! For example a geometrically symmetric flow case can possibly be non-symmetric concerning the BC's. Or imagine a Karman vortex street flow. Without knowing the solution you would expect to be able to model the half of the case.
Don't change your variables by halfing them! 60 mph stay 60 mph, even if you cut your car through the middle plane. In contrast to that you have to change mass flow values, of course (you change the cross-sectional area, right?). Greetings Marc |
Re: halving model
Marc,
Yes I do wish to use symmetry, this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks John. |
