combustion of Aluminum particle in oxidant-rich ga
Hello,
Now I want to use fluent5.4.8 to simulate combustion of Aluminum particle in oxidant-rich gas. But there are only some examples about Pulverized Coal combustion and liquid fuel combustion in fluent. These mean only the reactant is particle. Now in my problem, not only the reactant but also the product of combustion is particle. Do you have some cases about this?Would you like to give me some cases? Thank you for your help. |
Re: combustion of Aluminum particle in oxidant-ric
Hi, I think you would use UDF to define rate of surface oxidation
4Al(s)+3O2(v)= 2Al2O3(s) +Q first - try to build model of oxigen diffusion through Al2Os core (is this core solid or liquid in your case?) second - note that under extra high temperature aluminium can react with nitrogen as wel as with oxigen 2Al(s)+ N2(v) = 2AlN(s) third - be shure to use valid heat capacity functions to get valid enthalpy at temperature of reaction. good luck, Stanislav |
Re: combustion of Aluminum particle in oxidant-ric
Thank you for your help. But in my problem, both the reactant(Al) and the product of combustion(Al2O3) are particles. This means I must track Al and Al2O3 particle trajectories. Now I just know how to track the reactant(Al) particle trajectories, and I don't know how to track the product(Al2O3) particle trajectories.
Would you like to give me some advice?Thank you. |
Re: combustion of Aluminum particle in oxidant-ric
Hi, can you handle Al and Al2O3 as one particle, but with variable composition (rate of oxidation) -
you can separate flow problem (tracks of particles) and chemistry problem (particle composition) thus you need to solve temperature - interaction between combustion and flow BR, Stanislav |
Re: combustion of Aluminum particle in oxidant-ric
Thank you for your help. But how can I separate flow problem (tracks of particles) and chemistry problem (particle composition)? Do you have some cases about it?If you have such cases, would you like to give me? Thank you.
