Free-surface
Hi all,
I am worried about my results when I want to predict air entrainment. I am using the VOF model and when I want waves to break, the solution doesn't seem right and the convergence is much worse. My colleage thinks that the VOF model is only valid for continouos free surfaces. Should I use an Eulerian mode 2 phase model for wave breaking? I am worried about smearing the interface if I do this. Has anyone got any experince of this? Thanks Joachin |
Re: Free-surface
Your colleage is not right. When the entrainment is too much, VOF is very expensive. For this reason, you may want to consider Eulerian approach.
Whats the equation you are using to generate the wave, or its just because of the liquid level difference/ flow in the liquid?? phd_y2k2001@yahoo.com |

Hello phdy2k2001,
If I use an Eulerian approach, wont this be much more expensive and slow? I'm not sure I can afford the memory either as wont it need twice the RAM? The entrainment is set up by a sharp obstruction in the channel. Thanks Joachin |
