nonnewton fluid

I want to simulate the blood bump flow with Fluent. what initial condition are suitable? especially, how to deal with the tubulent model? please give some wise advice.thanks

Hey autofly,
you should take care, that you transport blood without turbulence. If the flow inside the pump is turbulent (so a turbulence model will be neccessary to simulate) you will of course be able so calculate it using a turbulence model, but may damage the blood components in real life.

Re: nonnewton fluid

Hi,

Specially u need to use non-newtonian power law for the viscosity, and there u have to use the value of k and n and so on....... for blood everybody likes to use laminar flow cause the velocity into the vein is very low..... and shear stress may decrease as the velocity increases and again the shear stress may increase for the small dia vein, thus it may stop.

anyway, what is ur min and max viscosity limit? and did u calculate the k and n value and what is the density of the blood u use? I'm helping someone who needs that value... could plz pass that for me.

thanks/Alamgir

first thank you . to be truth, it is a contact with other company, i know little about, the density is 1.05*10^3kg/m^3, vicousity ia about 4.5 MPa.s,velocity is not certain. is it helpful for you?
