How to display Reynolds stresses
Hi, I am using a 2d model utilizing the k-epsilon RNG turbulence model, to simulate an open channel flow. How can i display the reynolds stresses at the node points. Under the display option there is none that i know of. Thanks for the help

Re: How to display Reynolds stresses
Hi, Fluent does not have the Reynolds stresses option in the post-processing for k-epsilon family since it does not solve Reynolds stresses explicitly. The Reynolds stresses are modeled with Boussinesq approximation. If your problem demands accurate Reynolds stresses distribution, use the Reynolds stress turbulence model instead. If you are looking for a crude approximation, write a custom defined function using Boussinesq approximation, which relates the local mean velocity graidents to the Reynolds stresses through eddy viscosity.
Hope it helps Good luck Bhushan |

I need help about your above post? I am new to fluent, so if you could give me more detailed explanation, I really appreciate it. Could you explain to me how I can write custom defined function to calculate Reynolds stresses? I am using k-e model in turbulent flow. |
