Hi,

I want fluent to calculate the heat transferred from a flame through a furnace wall to give the outside temperature of the furnace wall. Can fluent do this?

Do you create and mesh the walls in Gambit?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Mark.

Hfi Mark,

The problem you have detailed can be solved using fluent. If you are modelling the problem as a 2D problem then use gambit to generate the geometry and mesh. Otherwise you may find it easier to generate your geometry using a diffent design package for 3D and then exporting it.

Take a look at the user guide for FLUENT 6.1 on the link below. There is a link for the tutorials guide as well which will also be of use to you.
