hi I want to fix the different volume fraction at differnt locations in domain.Actually my problem is liquid and gas flow through solid(stationary) which are having different fraction in the domain. Can somebody tell how I can assign different volume fraction at different locations as my domain is divided in more than 1000 parts each having different volume fraction.

Help urgently required

Thanks

Hi!

One way to do it is to: Adapt-Region....here you define regions of interest and give them names. Then go to Solve-initialize-patch and attach desired value of volume fraction to the desired region. You can read about it in fluent documentation tutorial for Vof model.... Since you have many regions of interest you are looking at a loooooooong process...maybe there is an easier way to do it?????

Thanks for the reply. Yes you are right To patch 1000 regions is one by one is not possible. Can you suggest some other way . Can UDF can be used. Then how?

With best wishes.

Hi, there are another possibility to batch the 100 region! You may devide the regions into small volumes! Every volume represents the cells you need to batch to one value of VOF, but you need here to define all the internal surfaces as interiors! It takes very long time but I think it is better than the Adaption Method! best wishes Adel

The problem remains same whether I divide the domain into different regions or adapt the differnet region. It is always going to be tedious to patch such a large no of volumes separately and if volumes are grater than 100?
