Hi friends, Is it possible to do LES of turbulent reacting flows in Fleunt. For example, Large eddy simulation of a smple jet flame at a Re = 10000. with regards Sukumar

I had tried. About coal combustion. But the speed was too slow, I had to give up finally.

Did amyone try with some simple jet flame case or something similar?

What do you want to know? I had done something about it.

Hi, I want to know more about the implementation strategy of LES models in Fluent as well as how the SGS terms are handled for energy and species equation, For example, in the case of dynamic smagorinsky model, the coefficients Cs are computed separately for all energy, species and momentum equations. Do they consider the incompressible formulation or compressible formulation for combustion problem(the dynamic coefficient). How is the convergence history and the comparison of results with the experimental results? The reference for incompressible and compressible formulation could be obtained from the papers of Moin et. al. in physics of fluids (year between 1990-1992).

I think you should consider more about imcompressible formulation since both the flow speed and the pressure is not very high in common combustion reaction.AS to Cs and other coefficients in energy and species equations, I think all these can be dealed with well through PDF model and what you should consider is just the reactants, the products and semifinished products in your reaction system. I am not family with the LES model, also this model's coupling with reaction.
