Default GAMBIT BOUNDARY LAYER

I am using the boundary layer in Gambit to coarsen the grid outside my area of interest. The problem is i get some small zig zag type patterns in the layer. It follows a uniform pattern and then there will be a line through the pattern. What is the problem? Thanks
