Solid cone spray

Hi All,

Can we create a solid cone spray? I tried using Air-blast atomizer model but always end up in hollow cone. Is there a way to create solid cone spray?

Appreciate your help, Thanks in advance.

Chendhil.

Hello Chendhil,

have you found how to create a solid cone spray?

I will try to use it from now so if you didn't find a proper answer, I'll look for it and let you know.

if you found on your side, please keep me posted

thanks

David

Re: Solid cone spray

Hi

As far as my knowledge is concerned, all FLUENT's general injector models (single, group, cone, and surface) produce only hollow cone sprays. However, by using atomizer models, we can approach solid cone, if the atomizing stream is defined properly. I tried using air-blast atomizer with a swirling atomizer inlet. So far, I didn't get satsfactory solid cone spray.

If you get any information, pls. pass it on to me.

Thanks,

Chendhil.

Re: Solid cone spray

Hi

By properly defining the internal swirling air stream, I was able to get solid cone spray in air-blast atomizer model. For my case, I used velocity magnitude as 30m/s, axial dir flow comp 0, radial 0.7 and tangential 0.7. For further details, pls. see FLUENT 6's tutorial Chap. 14.

Hope this helps!

Chendhil.

Hi Chendhil,

congratulations for achieving it!

I have just started investigating on swirling flow in combustion using spray model. Are you working in the same area?

Well, your informations would be quite useful for me at least!

Well done once again!

thank you very much

Regards

David
