2D cylindrical problem in axial & radial direction
I have a 2D cylindrical geometry and I want to solve it in the axial and radial direction. In the gambit I can create the 2D geometry and export the mesh only in xy plane & not in xz plane. xy direction means rtheta directions. but i want to solve it in rz direction. anybody can please help me.

Use the "AXIS" boundary condition to specify the centerline of your cylindrical geometry; this must lie on the YZ plane (ie along the xaxis). Then, when you import the mesh into FLUENT, make sure that you set the problem as 2Daxisymmetric (Define/Solver). In this way, the xdirection is your axial, the ydirection your radial coordinates.

Do you mean you have an axisimmetrical geometry?
If so, you just need to choose the 2D solver and then choose the axi option. Hi :) ap
