UDF for porosity

For a packed column, how do we define the porosity of the bed to vary radially in FLUENT? We want to simulate the flow misdistribution due to the radial variation of flow resistance in the column. What I understand is that I have to use a UDF for that. But then,

For the UDF, how do I define (1) the radial variations (all udf examples are in cartesian co-ordinates, and not for cylindrical geometry) (2) the porosity which will physically simulate the flow behavior (change in intersitial velocity radially as the bed porosity changes)?

Thanks, Rakib

Re: UDF for porosity

If I remember well Greg Perkins has posted a UDF in which he has a subroutine to calculate the porosity variation. You can search with the term "Perknins" to find his posts and his code. Hope to help you Thomas

porosity variations

Hi Thomas,
i found post you mentioned about Greg Perkins. I was trying to find him but couldn't. I am very interested in UDF to calculate the porosity variations. Could you help me to find this code.
thanks
