when grids are generated, this webpage maybe be helpful for you.that can estimat the normal spacing to be used in a viscous CFD grid.

can anyone tell what formula is used?

See if you can make sense of this HTML/JAVA code for the Sutherland formula! Or find a good book which explains it somewhat!

Boundary-Layer Theory by Hermann Schlichting, et al (Hardcover - December 1999) should tell you what you need.

I have the electronic edition book Boundary-Layer Theory by Hermann Schlichting,which was an old edition, translated by chinese. I will read it carefully. With kind regards
