Default Bulk fluid property at cross-sections of region

I have a flow problem (3d with some symmetry in the Z direction primarily which I can solve easily; I'm now aiming to get the bulk fluid properties at cross sections that are perpendicular to the Z-axis (eg on the XY plane). I know I can use various tools, such as the Iso-Clip tool, to cut out these cross sections then use Surface Integrals to get the average bulk, but to make enough resolution of points (more than 20, say) along the region takes time and is not easily automated. I'm going to guess that to do anything more complicated will require a UDF or similar function that can process the information. Anyone have had to do something similar that can lead tips to this?
