One Dimentional Flow (Heeeeelp)

Hello everybody

I think I have a simple problem. I am going to solve the flow equations (time dependent) for natural gas in a very long pipeline. As the diameter of the pipe section is really negligible with respect to its length,I just need Fluent to solve one dimentional flow Eqs for me. What I want to know as a result is the change in basic flow parameters( velocity, temperature, pressure) in different times in distances about 20-30 m . please tell me what fluent can do about one-dim flows. As far as I know the simplest grids Gambit can produce is two dimentional grid. thx

why dont you just solve an axisymetric problem? it wont be too expensive.

If not analytical solutions are available for this case.

Why do you want to do 1-D in fluent. It is simple to write your own code for it. However you you will never get a change in a spatial change in the velocity even in the developing region with 1-D solver. some temporal if you initialize with zero. A good test is to use just one grid and to simulate a channel with only one grid in the vertical height. Boundary copnditions you use may be a slip wall.
