Reading Fluent files into TECHPLOT

Hi PPl,

Please let me know, how is it possible to read ".cas" and ".dat" produced in Fluent, into Techplot, I am having a Techplot of Version 8, is it possible in this version?

Thanks in advance,

if you go to file and click the import it will automatically ask to load the Fluent data loaders. Which can be use to load the Fluent files. I am not sure whether it is available in tecplot 8.0 Pratap

Hello.

I am not sure about Tecplot 8. One way is as pratap told. I suggest the other way too: In FLUENT go to File/Export then choose File type as Tecplot, and select the parameters (pressure, Velocities,... whatever) and the boundaries or surfaces that you need. Now you will have a PLT file that you can hopefully Read it in ant Tecplot

Good luck Mazyar

The Fluent data loader in Tecplot only reads in the volume data, so if you want to plot surfaces yopu would have to go to the export and select Tecplot and then what surfaces you want and then go to Tecplot and add that data to your already loaded fluent data.

Hi Pratap,Mazyar and Bob,

Thanks u ppl for the innovative reply, it seems that in Techplot 8 it is not possible to read-in case and data files from Fluent directly, but i was able to do the same by exporting file from Fluent, with the required geometry and parameters.

krishna.
