First order upwind

Hi all,

I want to know is it true that a second order upwind always provide a better accuracy than a first order one in all flow problem ?

Thank .

Yea it should do, at least as long as you get the second order upwind scheme to converge. The first order upwind scheme in fluent is very diffusive and it will quickly smear out all your shear layers etc.

Re: First order upwind

A higher order scheme is more accurate than a lower order one.

The problem is in the stability of the solution and the speed of convergence, which usually becomes lower as you increase the order of the scheme.
