information about size function

hi

i have question which is a general question about what is behind the grid generation with gambit, especially in the following case:

if i want to study the flow over a rectangle, i draw the rectangle then another one bigger. then i substract. i meshed the small rectangle (only edges) with a size 0.01. i meshed the edges of the bigger one with a size 0.1. then i mesh the surface. i see that the grid is thiner around the small rectangle and bigger and bigger away.

i would like to know if gambit is using a size function "in deaulft" to create that mesh? what is the difference with using the size function?

thanks for all yann
