modeling of gasification process

Hello everybody,

do you know, how I can model gasification process in Fluent? What kind of data I need to proper prepare numerical calculations of this type of process?

Re: modeling of gasification process

If you are talking about coal gasification, you have to implement the mass transfer equations through UDF in the Eulerian model, because FLUENT still doesn't implement them.

Hi,

thank you for this. But I was thinking also about gasification of wood. Is it similar model to coal gasification?

I never modeled wood gasification, but it shouldn't be very different if you keep into account the precence of water of the wood and other differences in its composition.

Maybe you can find some more information in the Literature.

Dear Jacek,

For your information, gasfication reactions are different from the combustion reactions. So you cannot model gasification as a whole in Fluent. First you have to get the appropriate reactions of gasifications from the literature. Then you can model ur gasification reactions in Species Transport model in Fluent. For that u may require, the corresponding rate constants and Arrhenius constants for each reaction(which is available in literature).

If you need further help in this regard, I am ready to do all my favour to you.

Dear Karthick,
I too am doing a Ms. Project on Wood gasification, I always get 5000 k on output. I am confident that all boundary conditions are correct except I have few questions:
Do I need to Provide combustion temperature at the combustion core.. ie do I need to give temp around 900k or not.
Is the core/ combustion core fluid condition or solid condition.
Help would be appreciated.
