Soot formation models

Hi to all. I am using Fluent 6.1 to simulate pollutant (soot and NOx) formation in combustion processes. NOx does not represent major probelms so far, but I am trying to create a UDF to simulate nuclei and soot formation/combustion. At present I have the model on paper (that was the easy bit!) but I am having a few doubts as to how to hook the UDF to Fluent, more than anything what approach to follow, i.e. use a UDS, DEFINE_ADJUST, DEFINE_SOURCE, etc. If somebody has done some similar work and wouldn't mind giving me a little guidance it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Kind regards. Fernando
