Doubt regarding boundary in propeller flow
I have a 4 bladed propeller. Due to symmetry i have considered only 1 blade for steady flow analysis. That makes me use a quadrant a cylinder as domain. Is it ok if I give symmetry boundary condition on the 2 orthogonal planes forming the boundary. Or do i have to use periodic boundary condition. Please help me clear my doubt.

Re: Doubt regarding boundary in propeller flow
If it is a ship propeller than you have no symmetry at all, because you have to take the rotot-stator interaction between ship and propeller into account.

I am sorry i did not define the full problem... I was talking about open water test.. There it must be symmetric..

Hi,
I found this file, www.acme.pwr.wroc.pl/repository/171/online.pdf I guess it is useful. Look at page 132! |
