i am working to model air flow through porous pipe. Only Fluent4 gives the option of porous in the Continuum but it doesnt give option of exporting mesh as 2d. Does it mean that i have to work in Fluent4 or if i make simple 2d mesh in Gambit and export in Fluent5/6 and then in Fluent can i change it to porous media? moreover when i try to export the mesh, i get warning messages that WARN: face 1 is not meshed and cannot be exported WARN: face3 is not meshed and cannot be exported

(face1 and face3 are the end faces).

I want to know how i can form a right mesh to model air flow through a porous pipe.

Set the continuum type to fluid. You make the fluid zone into a porous zone in FLUENT instead of in GAMBIT.

thanx, in that case should i specify any outlet in the Boundry type or just give inlet and wall types? and i also i get error message that mesh type not supported by Fluent. Do i need to specify specific mesh for specific face or geometry?

regards
